SITS review

Soup in the Streets yesterday was a blast. We had a great turnout, lots of good people showing up to help, and served soup, chili, and cornbread to a bunch of folks. This was probably the most fun event (for me, at least) that we've done this year.

If you were there yesterday, please leave a comment here telling us what your favorite part of the event was (in addition to whatever else you want to say, of course).

My favorite was meeting a musician named Tommy who played guitar and sang a couple of his songs. Then a couple of the S & Ger's got a chance to play a tune, too. It was a fun time connecting with a fellow musician.

I'm really looking forward to Turkey in the Park now, since that's usually our coolest event of the year.

Yesterday Was great. It was a great turn out. I was worrying a little bit if we would have enough, But Thank God he really made it go farther then it should have. I wanted to thank everyone who came out to help. I was so glad to see us have so many nice clothing items to give, what a treat. I was thinking of the asian man that came as we were packing up, we were able to just kinda give him whatever was left, to us it did not seem like a lot but to him he acted like we gave him a feast for his family. When Mike brought him the left over soup in a container he jumped out of his car bowing saying thank you thank you. Wow I really think we are going to see a whole lot of need this winter. There was one guy I was talking to that last night was his 1st night out there and tonight would be his wifes 1st night. I am praying for them !They have lost there jobs, house, and car and now they are on the streets. It is so sad and I think we need to be prepared to see alot of this. All and all it was great to be out there and help in a samll way. everyone left a little fuller and hopefully had a little more hope. I am looking forward to many more events like this. Thanks again to everyone who helped pull this off we could not have done it with out you.

Great work everyone. I was not there, but the story Mike & Kellie shared is sad and wonderful. I do expect also to see more people on the streets. This is a difficult economy and the housing and job market is not looking too good to say the least.

Like Tyson said, I can't wait for Turkey in the Park.

I love hearing the stories of how last night went. I was so sorry to miss the event; but so blessed by where God had me. Keep telling stories; and, if you're coming to TIP sign up on the blog. :) I can't wait!
